The aim of BL_TEAE is to build a blended reflexive learning community of teacher educators (through the use of ePortfolio, video sharing and online community discussion), who will share best practices and work collaboratively to develop a common draft of teacher training curriculum.
The project has the following objectives:
-
To define the technological and pedagogical needs that are appropriate for teacher educators;
-
To design a BL course with training modules on innovative pedagogical and technological innovations which are based on a socio-constructivist perspective;
-
To build and animate the reflective community through the use of ePortfolio, video sharing and online discussion, in a continued and circular process of reflection;
-
To design a curriculum design framework for teacher training, taking into account local, regional, national and international (EU) requirements and conditions;
-
To pilot the implementation of draft curriculum design framework and the introduction of innovative practices, also in an exploitable version.
As such, the blended course developed in this project will include:
-
Collaborative learning and construction of knowledge (Scardamalia & Bereiter, 2003): teacher educators will be able to develop innovative teaching practices and implement these practices to improve teacher training.
-
Artefact and object-oriented activity to improve teaching training curriculum:
recent attention in design blended learning course focuses on creating concrete collaborative knowledge objects (Bereiter, 2002; Knorr Cetina, 2001; Paavola and Hakkarainen, 2005).
The blended course developed in the project will include:
-
A combination of different methods of instruction or methods of teaching/learning in science and technology with training content and sharing of teaching best practices from each partner;
-
A combination of online training opportunities and continue support to the implementation of it.
